Dance with Angels

A heartwarming story of loss, discovery, love, resilience, happiness, and healing.

Warwick Dunnett spent his career as an airline captain, where every emergency has a procedure. In 2016 he lost his 20-year old son Harrison, and found there was no checklist for what came next. Dance with Angels is an account of the years that followed. An honest record of what grief does, and of the work of building a life on the other side of it.

Conversations

1. The Meaning of Death, and a Life Well Lived

Playing this short, beautiful extract from the final chapter of the Dance with Angels audiobook on a podcast can lead to a wonderful discussion about life's biggest question — The Meaning of Life

2. What Actually Helps After Loss?

Five Stepping Stones:

  • Community — Often religious affiliation but it doesn't have to be.
  • Compassion — From others, but also for yourself.
  • Time - An actual, neurological need for the brain to repair.
  • Purpose - Discussion inspired by Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl.
  • Belief - You can build your own, borrowing the best from different beliefs. Few religions are based on verifiable fact, so why not modify them?

3. What Happens After We Die?

Personal conclusions and broader discussions about:

  • Consciousness and the existence of a soul.
  • Near Death Experiences.
  • Reincarnation and the Journey of Souls after death.
  • Scientific theories on life after death: Energy, Simulation Theory, Multiverse Theory, Remote Viewing, EVP studies.

4. Finding a New Direction When Life Changes Irrevocably

  • Resilience
  • Meaning
  • Recovery
  • Using adversity to find a new direction and open a fresh chapter in your life.

5. The Cave You Fear to Enter

Facing the questions and experiences we’d rather avoid—and what can sometimes be discovered on the other side.
